II. The Longing
05:09
|
|
||
My land lies barren and dead:
An eternal, suffocating, scorching summer.
Sunlight drills my eyes, stabbing through my skull,
Tearing my thoughts into useless shreds.
And I long for the spring that carries your fragrance,
And I long for the Autumn with its dead leaves
Circling round and round in anxious motion
Against this static suffocation that strangles me.
Your eyes, multiplying patterns of Spring foliage.
Velvet lips bleeding in whispers,
Transfixing your soft laughter into the song of
Refreshing winds.

III. Funeral March
07:04
|
|
||
Strength wanes, limbs ache
In embracing, helpless pain.
I am ready, though unwilling
To drive my own hearse.
Let me hope for you,
Let me hope for us two.
Dance with me through the night.
Hold me tight under the mourning light.
Heal my heart with your nursing hands.
Undress me of that heavy morbid shroud.

IV. Empire of Chaos
06:30
|
|
||
The Empire collapses
as the Crown keeps falling into the dawn
of a New Dark Age of Chaotic Darkness.
Uncertain lay our lives
Trod by the tyrant's foot,
masked in kindness.
Incompetent pawns,
heartless soldiers,
enemies and foes arise:
grinning, claiming victory.
Peace is no longer an option.
Rule of Chaos and horror.
Vain mocking grimaces,
claiming victory.
At last!
Imperator, arise!
Aimed for destruction, arise!
Imperator, arise!
To reign in Chaos, arise!
The Dark Prince
shedding tears among the ruins
standing on his own
deserted, heart-broken, awaiting.
Words resonating in the wind:
'There is no way we can escape our Fate.'

V. Dreamland
04:40
|
|
||
Take me back to our Dreamland
Where poisonous flowers do grow.
Unafraid, hold my hand with Love
And I promise not to fade away again.
Your eyes that haunt me among the trees.
Your eyes that gently have coloured all of my dreams.

VI. Gentle Morphinomania
05:35
|
|
||
Dancing with Morphia’s great-grand daughter
Gives me strength to cope
With the slow self-destruction
Of a man unwilling to live.
She and I
We dance every day, every night.
And I fall asleep in her
Comforting, loving, opiate embrace.
She gives me strength to cope with
Wretchedness of this world
That slowly crumbles.

VII. A Seaside Walk
03:23
|
|
||
Nor moon nor stars were out :
they did not dare to tread so soon about,
through trembling, in the footsteps of the sun;
the light was neither night's nor day's, but one
which, life-like, had a beauty in its doubt,
and Silence's impassioned breathings round
Seemed wandering into sound.

I
We walked beside the sea
After a day which perished silently
Of its own glory—like the princess weird
Who, combating the Genius, scorched and seared,
Uttered with burning breath, “Ho! victory!”
And sank adown an heap of ashes pale.
So runs the Arab tale.
II
The sky above us showed
A universal and unmoving cloud
On which the cliffs permitted us to see
Only the outline of their majesty,
As master-minds when gazed at by the crowd!
And, shining with a gloom, the water grey
Swang in its moon-taught way.
III
Nor moon, nor stars were out.
They did not dare to tread so soon about,
Though trembling, in the footsteps of the sun,
The light was neither night’s nor day’s, but one
Which, life-like, had a beauty in its doubt.
And Silence’s impassioned breathings round
Seemed wandering into sound.
IV
O solemn-beating heart
Of nature! I have knowledge that thou art
Bound unto man’s by cords he cannot sever—
And, what time they are slackened by him ever,
So to attest his own supernal part,
Still runneth thy vibration fast and strong
The slackened cord along.
V
For though we never spoke
Of the grey water and the shaded rock,
Dark wave and stone unconsciously were fused
Into the plaintive speaking that we used
Of absent friends and memories unforsook;
And, had we seen each other’s face, we had
Seen haply, each was sad.
